Activity Description

If you want to "see" some sound waves, hold a vibrating tuning fork in some water. Until damped by the water, the vibrating tuning fork will transmit waves into the water.

If you want to "feel" some sound waves, gently place one hand against the front of your throat and make a humming noise. The air moving past your vocal cords causes them to vibrate and produce sounds. Your mouth and tongue help shape these sounds into words.
